Slow Auto Sales In April

Nothing like starting an auto blog with a downer.

But, the news is the news and you aren't supposed to harm the messenger...er...blogger. Auto makers announced that April's sales for 2007 fell below those of 2006. Not even Toyota, who has been increasing sales by 10% and up, wasn't immune with a drop of just over 4%. Ford dropped about 13%, and GM about 10%.

The car manufacturers chalked the loses up to rising gas prices and a slow housing market.

The only auto maker to apparently buck the April trend was Chrysler, who increased sales a whopping 29%. The popularity of Chrysler's Jeep brand 4-door Wrangler and its new Compass seems to be responsible for Chrysler's success.

You can read more about the announcement at MSNBC.
